The Sillaman Sanctuary for Music and Performing Arts has been incorporated as a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization. The Sillaman Sanctuary will create a safe haven for those recovering from alcohol and drug addiction, where music and the performing arts support what can be a challenging transition from inpatient or outpatient treatment to daily life.
Such a place has been the vision of The Sabatino Day Williamson Group Chairman Gregory Sabatino for many years as he watched people close to him struggle with addiction and learned more about the barriers to lasting recovery. Over the past several years, forces converged to bring his vision to life. First, he wrote and directed FALSIFYIN’, a short documentary on Boogie Woogie music, which connected him not only to musicians who had themselves faced and overcome addiction but to the power of music and the arts to heal deep wounds. Second, his co-producer on FALSIFYIN’, John Sillaman – a musician in his own right and a longtime employee of Sabatino/Day – became interested in the vision. With his family, John donated 80 acres of lush, rolling hills in Southwestern Ohio where The Sillaman Sanctuary, named in honor of this generous donation, will be located.
These two deeply spiritual and compassionate men are now focused on expanding the organization’s Board of Directors with experts in medicine, addiction, arts education and programming as well as fund-raising.
